Review | Hate Notes | Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

About The Book

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Something blue.38600870

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”

Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.

He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.

But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.

Something new.

But I have no idea how this one is going to end…

My Thoughts

What happens when you bring 2 seasoned writing artists together to create a new work of art?  You get a masterpiece.

Hate Notes is a fun contemporary romance for any HEA lover.  The storyline is unique in its own way and I was drawn into it from the very beginning.

The characters were so well written, that I could easily visual them in my head. A quirky female and a stubborn male….what could possibly go wrong.

With twist and turns and a few “Whoa, I didn’t see that coming” moments, Hate Notes is the perfect weekend read.

So stay in those comfy clothes, find a snuggly blanket, a cup of tea or a glass of wine and dive into this 4.5* read.

Review | Touched | A.J. Aalto

Touched is the first book in A.J. Aalto’s Urban Fantasy series The Marnie Baranuik Files.

About The Book

The media has a nickname for Marnie Baranuik, though she’d rather they didn’t; they call her the Great White Shark, a rare dual-talented forensic psychic. Twice-Touched by 30361246the Blue Sense–which gives her the ability to feel the emotions of others, and read impressions left behind on objects–Marnie also has a doctorate in preternatural biology and a working knowledge of the dark arts. She is considered without peer in the psychic community.

Then her first big FBI case ended with a bullet in one shoulder and a chip on the other, a queasy heart and a serial killer in the wind, leaving her a public flop and a private wreck. When the FBI’s preternatural crimes unit tracks her down at a remote mountain lodge for her insight on a local case, her quiet retirement is promptly besieged by a stab-happy starlet, a rampaging ghoul, and a vampire-hunting jackass in tight Wranglers. Marnie figures the only real mystery is which one will kill her first.

Too mean to die young, backed up by friends in cold places, and running with a mouth as demure as a cannon’s blast, Marnie Baranuik is about to discover that there’s no such thing as quitting time when you’re Touched.

My Thoughts

Touched was my first novel written by author AJ Aalto and what a great start to a new reading venture.

Touched is an unique twist for anyone looking to move past the overdone world of sparkly romanticized vampires.  This is not a typical paranormal romance novel where the vampire bites the heroine and they fall in love.  Touched is far more than that.  With strong sexual references and lots of steamy tension, AJ Aalto takes the reader down a wonderlandic path of pent up lust and desire.

The characters of Touched are so well contrived that you can easily have them imprinted into the walls of your mind.

I thoroughly enjoyed Marnie Baranuik’s personality in this book.  She is strong willed and determined and a bit clueless, in the most charming way.  Oh and not to mention quirky as hell.  She had me laughing more times that not.

Miss Aalto is a clever and imaginative writer.  Touched was an original and inventive read.  Witty and entertaining from the first page to the last.

The is a must read for all of you Urban Fantasy/ Paranomal readers looking for a change in pace.  I give Touched 4.5 stars and I see book 2 Death Rejoices in my very near future.

About The Author

AJ Aalto is the author of the paranormal mystery series The Marnie Baranuik Files. Aalto is an unrepentant liar and a writer of  blathering nonsense offset by factual gore. When535773_10151501733540276_821915275_23575380_201613986_n not working on her novels, you can find her singing Monty Python songs in the shower, eavesdropping on perfect strangers, stalking her eye doctor, or failing at one of her fruitless hobbies. Generally a fan of anyone with a passion for the ridiculous, she has a weak spot for smug pseudo-intellectuals and narcissistic jerks; readers will find her work littered with flawed monsters and oodles of snark.

AJ cannot say no to a Snickers bar and has been known to swallow her gum.

Release & Review | Indeed | Amabel Daniels

Happy Release Day Amabel Daniels

About the Book

Ready to indulge her wanderlust, hotel server Louie finds herself stuck in Miami with a 513SDg4JbmLbroken-down car. Her plans to skip town are foiled until a disheveled, handsome man makes her an offer she can’t refuse—five grand to act as his arm candy for the night. No strings attached.

Desperate to get a promotion to VP, but sabotaged by his bachelor status, Marc panics and asks one of the workers at the company’s banquet to stand in as his date for the evening. Lying isn’t his forte, but with Louie at his side, he hopes he’s leveled the playing field.

Louie figures it would just be an adventure to laugh about later. But when his boss also insists she come along on their business cruise, Marc invites her, excited to see her again, even though they are only pretending at love. Charmed by his clumsiness and intelligence, she agrees, only to regret her decision when something continues to build between her and Marc. Something neither can consider acting on because…he’s paying her…and neither is willing to mix money with love.

My Thoughts

I received an ARC of Indeed from Amabel Daniels for my honest opinion.

This was my first read by Miss Daniels and I’m glad I chose well because I wasn’t disappointed.

Right from the beginning I could tell that Indeed would be different from your typical HEA. The chemistry and the witty banter between Louie and Marc was really well written. I was hooked into the plot right from the beginning all the way through to the end.

Told from a dual POV, with a strong female lead, Indeed is a perfect summer or weekend read. It has everything that you are looking for all between 2 gorgeous covers.

Amabel Daniels weaves her words and entangles her readers. She writes with wit and humour but never loses sight of her end goals. The happily ever after.

Definite 5 Star read for me!
