Review | Luna and The Lie | Mariana Zapata

About The Book

42883009The problem with secrets is that they’re too easy to keep collecting.

Luna Allen has done some things she would rather no one ever know about. She also knows that, if she could go back in time, she wouldn’t change a single thing.

With three sisters she loves, a job she (mostly) adores, and a family built up of friends she’s made over the years, Luna figures everything has worked out the way it was supposed to.

But when one of those secrets involves the man who signs her paycheck, she can’t find it in her to regret it. Despite the fact that he’s not the friendliest man in the world. Or the most patient.

Sometimes there are things you’re better off keeping to yourself

My Thoughts

Can I just start by saying that I love books by Mariana Zapata.  I get super excited when I see a new one has released.

She never fails to write the most brooding, frustrating, pain in the ass and intensely hot male characters and Ripley is no exception to this rule.

OMG honestly, I love him and I love Miss Zapata for writing him.

I read all of her books within days and Luna and The Lie was no different.  Miss Zapata is a pure artist when it comes to writing contemporary romance.

My only issue with this book was that Luna was a little too oblivious and her poor me attitude was a bit too much for my liking when it comes to female character leads.

But overall it was another great 4 star release by Mariana Zapata.

About The Author

Mariana Zapata began writing love stories soon after she learned how to spell. She probably shouldn’t admit that she started sneaking romance novels from her aunt’s e8c37f_5f58b3a4a1e141f68facd6368d435dbe~mv2_d_1280_1920_s_2bookshelves way before she was old enough to even understand what it meant when a man flipped up a woman’s skirt… don’t tell her mom. Luckily, she stuck to stories about princesses and princes for a while. In her teens, she wrote boy band fanfiction (there’s still a website up somewhere on the internet with those masterpieces), and in her early twenties, she picked it back up again with Sookie Stackhouse and Twilight. Eventually, her significant other finally told her to do what she wanted to do and she began working on her original work. Her novels tend to include potty humor, bodily functions, and bad words. Mariana lives in a small town called Pagosa Springs, Colorado with her husband/best friend, Chris Letchford, and their two well-beloved (and emotionally manipulative) Great Dane children, Dorian and Kaiser. When she’s not pretending to write, she’s reading sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk or historical romance novels. You can usually find her harassing her dogs, being a hermit at home or cracking jokes at the expense of her family members.

Review | Hate Notes | Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

About The Book

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Something blue.38600870

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”

Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.

He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.

But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.

Something new.

But I have no idea how this one is going to end…

My Thoughts

What happens when you bring 2 seasoned writing artists together to create a new work of art?  You get a masterpiece.

Hate Notes is a fun contemporary romance for any HEA lover.  The storyline is unique in its own way and I was drawn into it from the very beginning.

The characters were so well written, that I could easily visual them in my head. A quirky female and a stubborn male….what could possibly go wrong.

With twist and turns and a few “Whoa, I didn’t see that coming” moments, Hate Notes is the perfect weekend read.

So stay in those comfy clothes, find a snuggly blanket, a cup of tea or a glass of wine and dive into this 4.5* read.

Review | Invisible Leash | M.H.B

Invisible Leash is the first book in the Cross Series by debut indie author M.H.B

About The Book

My name is Sage Cross. 41714565

I’ve got it all-the beauty, the brains, the bank account.

Women hate me. Men want my Louboutins around their necks.

And I blame my father for everything. It’s his fault I’m swarming through powerful men in suits while I’m stuck posing as a useless, jobless photo op.

Until he sends the perfect weapon my way: Lincoln Black. Mark my words, I plan to use him. In more ways than one.

What I don’t expect coming my way is Jacob Storm, a beautiful, possessive, millionaire who sexed his way through Manhattan.

I spread my legs. My black heart however remains on lockdown.

You’ve been warned.

My Thoughts

I was given a readers copy of Invisible Leash by M.H.B. for my honest review.

First off let me start by saying that the cover for this novel is absolutely stunning and completely attracted me towards wanting to reading it even before the blurb did.

Invisible Leash is the debut novel for indie author M.H.B. for what looks to be a duet called the Cross Series.

M.H.B. did an excellent job of writing her characters, painting them within the canvas of my mind.  I love a strong female lead and even though Sage, in some ways, is weak to some of the powers around her, she is very headstrong and determined.  Powerful characteristics for a female persona.

Along with the characters, the plot was well thought out and left you wanting more and more of Sage and Jacob.  And M.H.B. doesn’t hold back on the steam factor.  Lots of sizzling hot moments between the pages of this novel.

Well I did find Invisible Leash to be a bit wordy at times, and the writing to a bit novice, I have no doubt that M.H.B. will become favoured as she moves forward and becomes a well seasoned author.

Overall it was a impressive debut and I give 3.5 starts to Invisible Leash.

 About The Author

M. H. B. holds a Canadian law degree. She loves walking her dog and debating various subjects with her partner. When she’s not writing, her mind is in another world, with a book in hand. Invisible Leash is her debut novel.

Sometimes it only takes a minute. A connection of eyes across a room, and everything changes. I was a cocktail waitress with a fondness for partying and meaningless sex.

He owned half of Vegas, with a reputation to match.  I should have turned away.

Instead, I stepped closer.

Then then, lies started.

Rumors spread.

Stalking commenced.

And someone died.

None of it stopped me from falling in love.

Review – Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl by Marie Savage

Asphalt Cowboy – a man (country boy) who works on the road. he is always gone, traveling to different states due to his line of work.
an asphalt cowboy could be considered a truck driver, iron worker, etc.

I was provided an ARC of Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl for an honest review. Asphalt Cowboys Girl Marie Savage E-Cover

In this steamy contemporary romance by Marie Savage, we meet Luke McIntyre and Aimee Jo Elliott.  Luke a loner, travelling the highways with his rig, living life by his terms,  finding temporary lovers along the way.  Aimee Jo, a young, trusting, naïve woman, fleeing her life in Georgia, hopeful of a new start in California. Unfortunate circumstances have the two crossing path at a truck stop in Mobile Alabama.  What should have been an easy 4 days together turned out to be anything but.

This was my first read by Marie Savage.  I really enjoyed the overall plot line of the novel.  The book was a very easy read and easily devoured in one sitting.  The story line flowed seamlessly throughout the entire novel.  I also really liked that Miss Savage chose to write the novel from a dual point of view.  One of my favourite things about any romance novel is reading it through the males eyes.

While I generally like my lead females to be strong and fierce, I found that Marie Savage wrote Aimee Jo’s character to perfection.  Her skilled words brought Aimee Jo to life, as she saw her, on each and every page.  cag1

The steaminess really builds in Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl until it was thick with sexual tension.   Add in a unexpected threat from a dangerous ex and you having the makings a of a well rounded book.

Overall I rate Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl 4 Stars.  I’m looking forward to reading what Marie Savage will produce in the future as she grows as an author.

Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl is one click away at Amazon.com or Amazon.ca.

And don’t forget to add it to your Goodreads TBR list.
