Share Your World – May 7, 2018

Yup, I’m a day behind, but better late then never!!!

If you were given $22 million tax free dollars (any currency), what is the first thing you would do? (This is just a dream question, remember anything can happen in SYW.)

Sitting here right now, thinking about it, I honestly don’t know.  We’ve all played this game over the years and depending on where you are at in your life, depends on what you would choose to do with it.

I think that I wouldn’t tell anyone, but surprise our close family and friends with their dream car and some fun money.  Or maybe take everyone on one hell of a vacation.

Whatever it is, my first thoughts are always of giving to someone else.

Oh and I would definitely get a pair or two of Louboutins……lol

In what do you find the simplest of joys?

One of the things I love most is snuggling on the couch reading, with the windows open, a light breeze and the sounds of outside.   But what makes that even better is a storm coming in.  The smell of the air changing, the distance rumble of thunder, then eventually the sound of the rain hitting the roof.   Nothing to me is more relaxing a soothing that that.  Sadly we don’t get as many thunderstorms as we used to.

What would be your ideal birthday present, and why?

Actually I am not good at receiving gifts, but I love to give them.

I would prefer to just buy myself something.  My birthday is in June and the weather is usually nice and sunny and warm.  I like just wondering around the mall or in and out of shops and pick a few things.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

My son has been dying to go to Inflow, an indoor skate park about an hour away from our house.  He and his friends are big into scootering.  so I took them on Saturday for the day. It made me smile to see how happy and excited he was.  He had a great time!

Share Your World – April 23 , 2018

I enjoy reading other bloggers shared thoughts and decided to play along.

If you could get an endless supply of any food, what would you get?

My first thought would be to pick an indulgence, something that I love but don’t eat all the time. Like cheesecake or something with caramel in it.  Or maybe a nice big plate of nachos smothered in difference cheeses.  But what I’d actually pick would be chicken.  I eat chicken all the time.  Its by far my most favourite meat and it can be used in so many different variations.

List at least 5 movie or books that cheer you up.

I love Pitch Perfect. I’ve watched that movie so many times and never get sick of it.  The overall atmosphere of it is always so upbeat.

Any books written by Sophia Kinsella.  She is so good at writing about quirky females.  Her book Can You Keep A Secret is so laugh out loud funny.  A recommended read for sure..

The How to Date a Douchebag Series by Sara Ney.  Again, hilarious.  You don’t even need to read the book, just read the blurbs at the beginning of each chapter. Super funny and it makes you wonder how the hell she thinks this stuff up.

Blow is my favourite movie and it’s not because I am a Johnny Depp fan.  There is just something about that movie that I love.

Ocean’s Eleven and The Italian Job because I love the way it all comes together at the end.

I am also going to add in a TV show.  We  have a little show here in Canada called Schitt’s Creek.  The dialogue in this show is super witty and always puts a smile on my face.

If you were a mouse in your house this evening,  what would you see your family doing?

Right now, since we are being spoiled with nice warm temps, their evening would mostly be spent outside.  Eventually though, the kidlet would be dragged inside to shower, finish up any homework all while grumbling about.  The parental figures would watch an episode of whatever they were bingeing on Netflix, which happens to be Rosewood right now, or the hockey game.  These are tense times in the playoffs so likely hockey would win out.   But realistically The Leafs can’t last much longer, so back to Netflix it will be.

sunshine-happyWhat did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?

This one is easy!!!  The sun and warmer temperatures.  We have had a very long, very snowy, very cold winter.  Things finally turned this week and it has been wonderful.  It is amazing how much a little warmth and sunshine can improve ones moods.

The Unsmile That Makes Me Smile

So this weeks photo challenge from The Daily was to point your camera and capture someone or something that makes you smile….or just a smile in general.

Obviously there is no smile in this picture, but it makes me smile and even laugh every time I see it.   My poor son had just been stung by a Jellyfish and I couldn’t help but take a picture of his unimpressed face.   Luckily kids bounce back quickly and he was back in the ocean in no time!

If it were me, I never step foot in those waters again.

Tranquility On Sparrow Lake……

Whenever I go on vacation, one of my must have photos is that of the sunset.   There is something so breathtaking about sunsets.   The colours never seem to be the same and change from one moment to the next.   Some are so vibrant, while other are just a hint of colour along the horizon.

Every year a group of friends and our children enjoy a cottage along Sparrow Lake in Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada.  We have been going to the same cottage resort for numerous years and I have 2 traditions, taking a picture of the sunset the first night we arrive and taking a group picture.  This past summer I combined the two.

I love the way it turned out.  Such perfect timing.  It wasn’t planned, but we all happened to be in the right place at the right time.   What a stunning memory this made!
